

Amori was born on June 26, 1931 to Maraea Umiulaka’ahumanu O’Sullivan and Richard Ignacio Silva from Aiea. After Amori graduated from Farrington High School in 1951. He was drafted and served in Korea. Upon his return, he left for college in Chicago. He was put into an ESL (English as a second language) as they had a hard time understanding his Pidgen. While attending classes he worked on the railroad at night. From Chicago, he left for Denver University in 1956 where he graduated as and electrical engineer. He went to work for Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin, and designed missile engines on projects for NASA and USA Dept of Defense.
While Amori called Florida his home for many years, he routinely flew back to Hawaii. His older sisters, Lottie and Leo, along with husbands and children opened their homes for him to stay.
His hobbies included Poker with son-in-law, Kalei and the Grandkids, his Sudoku in the mornings to keep his brain sharp and just passing on his advice and making improvements on his daughter’s house.
Amori was predeceased by brothers, Paddy, Pat and Percy and sisters, Lottie and Loy. He is survived by his three sisters, Kanani, Leo and Wanda; his daughter Amoriann(Lei), son-in-law Kalei; Granddaughters, Jeana (Kyle), Jenny (Ray), Jamie (Ka’ano’i); Grandsons, Jershon (Stephanie), Jarom (Kamomi), Jordan (Shanelia), Jerrick (Mackenzie); and 26 Great-Grand Children he called, “GG’s”.
A short burial service will be held at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 11am. Open house and a Celebration of Life at Lei’s house at 45-359 Nakuluai St. Kaneohe. So come eat, talk story and Remember his Life.
