

She was born on June 21st, 1934, in Canton, China. Her parents were Young Quon Goo (father) and Leong Wo Shee Goo (mother). She has one sibling, Hoon Yee Goo (brother). In 1950 she immigrated from China to Honolulu, Hawaii where she attended and graduated from McKinley High School in 1956. At the age of 22 she met her husband Herbert Vuen Min Chong. They soon got married on May 3, 1957, in Waimanalo, Hawaii. In 1962 they had their first daughter Beverly. Thereafter she had 3 more girls, Brenda (1964), Linda (1965), and Liane (1966). They moved to Kailua in 1966, where she worked at many local Chinese restaurants, then she started working at the McDonalds in Kailua where she eventually retired in 1999 at the age of 65.
She was a dedicated Christian, being baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 24, 1997, and stayed active in her beliefs to the very end. She enjoyed sharing her beliefs with many, and the people she would meet loved hearing what she would share- most of whom would only take literature from Popo and no one else.
In 2015 she was Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, still enjoying a full life while being cared for by her daughter, Beverly, and her family. She was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in May 2023 and was put on Hospice Care where she passed away at home surrounded by family.
She is predeceased by her husband Herbert Chong and Son-In-Law- Barney Tamura.
She is survived by her brother Hoon Yee (Joyce) Goo, and her 4 daughters, Beverly (Tad) Dosier, Brenda Chong, Linda Gibson, and Liane Tamura.
She is also survived by her 5 Grandchildren, Tabalyn Dosier, Daryl Gibson, Tanner Dosier, Alyssa Gibson, and Tassyanna Dosier.

Funeral services will be held on June 30th, 2023, at Hawaiian Memorial Park. Visitation - 10:00am, Services - 11:00am, Burial at Pikake Circle - 2:00pm Hawaiian Memorial Park 45-425 Kamehameha Highway Kaneohe, HI 96744
