With deep love and sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Daniel Borje, 68, of ‘Ewa Beach, Hawai‘i, on August 29, 2026.
Daniel was born in Wai‘anae, Hawai‘i, on October 15, 1957, to Julian Borje and Berida “Lady” Kiko.
Daniel’s greatest gift was the love and devotion he gave as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and man of faith. He shared 47 years and 11 months of loving marriage with his wife, Patty. Together, they raised three children, Joshua, Matthew, and Malia, and were blessed with five grandchildren: Layla, Zoey, Mila, Mason, and Myles.
Daniel is also survived by his siblings, Waki, Sami, Lydia, and Dwight, as well as his brother-in-law, Henry. Family was everything to him.
In 1992, Daniel became Catholic through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), having been raised in the Pentecostal faith. For 30 years, he was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in ‘Ewa Beach, where he served in the choir, as a lector, and as a Eucharistic minister. He also spent time as a member of the Knights of Columbus. His faith was an important part of his life.
Daniel proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1978 to 2000. He began his career in Electrical Systems before cross-training into Communications-Computer Systems Operations, and retired as a Master Sergeant.
In 2000, Daniel began a second career with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. He enjoyed the friendships he formed with his coworkers and the many conversations he shared with customers along his route. After more than two decades of service, he retired in 2024.
Daniel was a man of service who generously gave his time to his community. Over the years, he volunteered with Litter Bugs Me, Special Olympics, and efforts to feed the elderly. While at Hickam Air Force Base, he planted trees near the bowling center, painted hopscotch at the elementary school, and helped build the Super Playground. He also donated to the Hawai‘i Foodbank and supported charitable causes by participating in March of Dimes walks and the Great Aloha Run.
In his younger years, Daniel enjoyed playing softball, coaching youth baseball, and bodyboarding.
In his later years, he enjoyed golfing, movie nights, taking cruises, spending time with family, and watching his grandchildren grow.
Daniel was deeply loved by his family and by so many people whose lives he touched. His smile, laughter, love, and the memories he created with his family will remain forever in our hearts.
We will always be grateful for the life we shared with him, for everything he gave us, and for the love he brought into our lives.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
