Born on May 27, 1934, in Kamuela, Hawaii. Eli was the 3rd of 4 children and was a proud graduate of Kamehameha Schools class of 1951. Worked for Theo H Davies & co, Ltd, Honolulu for 6 years (1951-1957) Joined the Air Force and served from (1957-1963) serving 3 years in Japan.
Returned from the air force and started working at the Board of Water Supply in the Human resources department from 1965 to 1995 when he retired after 30 years of service. Eli was an avid supporter and season ticket holder for the University of Hawai’i football team for over 25 years. He was a proud member of the Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club, he enjoyed officiating Canoe racing of Hawaii for many years.
Eli had a great love for his family and friends. His time spent with them was important to him. Eli took pride in collecting family genealogy, historic news articles, stamps and numerous other things. Eli passed away at the age of 88 on August 12, 2022.
Eli is survived by his sister Nathalie B. Kawai and brother James Laau. He was loved by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We will miss our Uncle Eli very much.
