Grace Ululani Hosino

Grace “Pupu” Ululani Hoʻomana-Dedrick-Hosino was born on October 7, 1942, in Kāneʻohe, Hawaiʻi, to Grace Iwaleilani (Keaunui) Hoʻomana Dedrick and Charles Hoʻomana Jr. She was later adopted by her stepfather, Charles William Dedrick.

Her greatest joy was her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace Iwaleilani (Keaunui) Hoʻomana Dedrick and Charles Hoʻomana Jr.; her stepfather, Charles William Dedrick; her brothers, Charles K. Hoʻomana and Lawrence “Larry” Taion Dedrick; her sisters, Ruth K. Hoʻomana, Naomi “Nami” Wampler, and Denise Hoʻomana (Kyle); her children, Lawrence Charles Kaleo Dedrick and Rory McLane Kuahini Hosino; and her granddaughter, Natasha Wainani Hosino.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda May Iwaleilani Hosino Zuttermeister (Harold); her grandchildren, Nicol Miyamoto (Mike), Koa Hosino, Meaghan Zuttermeister, Kalehua Zuttermeister (fiancé, Oliver), and Mauliola Zuttermeister; her great-grandchildren, Royce (Dhessa), Romyn, Reyah (Ki’ilani), and Kamalani; her great-great-grandchildren, Layla-Marie and Gabriel; her brothers, Chucky Hoʻomana, Mitchell Hoʻomana, Duane Hoʻomana, and Cory Hoʻomana (Kristel); her sisters, Charlene Hoʻomana and Nadine Hoʻomana (Stan); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended ʻohana, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She attended Benjamin Parker School and later James B. Castle High School. While attending Castle through 1960, she was a member of the school’s Majorette Team and was admired for her beauty. Many remembered her as having the most beautiful legs on the majorette squad.

She worked as the manager of Windward Bowl for many years. She was also a bowling coach for the Windward Menehune bowling team and was a phenomenal bowler herself.

She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and joined Wilson Home Care as a live-in CNA. For 35 years, she devoted her life to caring for others before retiring at the age of 75.

She touched countless lives with her kindness, compassion, and aloha. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Whether in person, over the phone, or on Facebook, she almost always ended her conversations with the words, “God Bless.” Those simple words reflected the love, faith, and kindness she carried in her heart and freely shared with everyone around her.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and aloha will live on through her family and in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
