I met hart working on Holland America line,me and a colleague are from the UK, but travelled from Italy to fort Lauderdale carpet cleaning,hart was warm and welcoming and very appreciative of the work we were doing, I found him very approachable and such a knowledgeable person,very sad to find out he has passed and I send my sincere condolences to his family and friends ...,...Andy Dowling.....uk

Hart was a wonderful even tempered man.  He was my boss in Housekeeping at the Bellevue Stratford back in the 80's where he was a great guy and taught me everything I needed to know.

Hart hired me at Westin Hotel when I first came to Canada in March 1977 ,although we worked together for short time before he moved on in life a perused different avenue's he left a good impression in me that lasted a lifetime. Rest In Peace my friend.

Never forget Hart! He very supportive of me as I was the Towel Guy at the Westin!!! Not just A Towel Guy But lots of Towels and Nice ones too! Me and Hart worked together very well! His organization skills blew me away running the housekeeping in a mega resort!!! We have great conversations in the big laundry room keeping the 5 star resort running smoothly!!!!always that Hart Smile!!! When we all were working soo hard!!! And we also incorporated the hawaiian value system to make things even better!!! You know even Iniki spiritual experience blew all of us around the world, islands, jobs ect… my memories soo clear of Hart standing right there and face to face cool calm and collected! Miss you Hart but I always believe you live in Kathleen and the Kids! Life goes on!!! Imua! Me Ke aloha!!

Hello Kathy, I am so sorry to hear of Hart's passing.  I always enjoyed my time with him and you and the kids.  I always learned something from Hart, no matter what the topic was.  My deepest sympathies as i  recall the fun times we had together and wish the best for you and Max and Alia.

It was in early 2000 that I became involed with Hart. We were involed in negotations to install a new type of system for cleaning garments on Holland American Ships. He was a unbelievable person to deal with. Very direct and to the point and you knew that what he said you could depend on lt. I had the good fortune to work with Hart for over 10 years  on this project.  It is with great sadness that we have lost a man of such statue so soon. I wish the family and his friends my sincere sympathy.

I met Hart in my teens sometime around 1974. I thought he was an undercover cop, he wanted to be one, he drove a Plymouth Satellite (for real). I learned so much from Hart over the many years, he was a friend a mentor and for a short period a colleague. When he helped colleagues move or settle, we were there, renovation or repair, we helped, like his crew, no questions asked. He was destined to be a leader. Our paths crossed many times  after he left Toronto, and it didn't take long for some of his crew to visit him in Calgary.  I was hired at the Westin, no interview required he said, you can stay with me.  Hart worked hard but make no mistake he enjoyed his down time. We travelled through out Alberta, British Columbia and California in that short period. While time and distance passed between us we still found time to communicate, regroup and catch up over the years. I saw him last in October 2017.  I thought our paths would cross again one day.......Rest in Peace my friend.

We met Hart when he attended a fundraising event for a non-profit that supports work in rural Uganda. We were honored that he gave time and resources to come to the event. He exemplified what a supportive father he was for his children and family! Hart, thank you for touching the lives of people far across the world who you'd probably never meet. May you rest in peace. I had the pleasure of meeting Hart in my early teens. Hart was able to teach me how to drive and an excellent instructor he was. Hart you will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to your family

I have very fond memories of Hart spending a lot of time at our house along with all the neighbourhood kids playing games together. I remember him and my brother Ron selling Beatle paraphernalia on our front yard, them going to hockey games, chasing police cars, Hart burying his lunches in our backyard so his mom wouldn’t find out that he didn’t eat them and on and on. One of the last times I saw Hart was for my brother’s 60th and it was as if time had never passed. We just picked up where we left off. I know he will be sorely missed.

Hart was a person who influenced my career in a positive way, who was always available to give you the correct guidance in the moment were you need it, listening to him generated tranquility, peace and trust; I will always remember the respect and affection you had for each of us, I will always be grateful for what you gave us.

I got to know Hart when he was Holland America ‘s Corporate Director of Housekeeping. I was a vendor to HAL. I worked with him on new product development, working on product specs and fulfilling orders that the ships needed as directed by Hart. He was the most well-prepared, knowledgeable and fairest customer that I ever had. Because of this and other positive qualities and  he commanded respect throughout the hospitality industry. I was blessed that I became his friend. Then Nancy, Mariah  and I became family friends with Kathy, Max and Alia as well. Hart, may you Rest In Peace. Bob and Nancy Wells

I am deeply saddened to read the passing of your beloved Hart.  Growing up, I was a neighbour friend on Brookdale Avenue, in Toronto Ontario Canada.  Hart was always ready to play the 'street' games - hide n' seek, spud and whatever the latest activity was.  Many summer evenings, all the neighbour kids would play Monopoly on our back porch.  Hart  always had lots of cash at the end of the game!  Fortunately, a few years ago , Hart and I had a lovely e-mail chat catching up.  Such a sweet guy!  He will be dearly missed.  


Hart was a most professional, cordial, diplomatic gentleman.  He will be missed greatly.  It was a pleasure to work with Hart over the last 10 years of his working career.  Marty Kimmerer, Ontario, Canada

From the many shared memories that Hart and I have had, I'd like to share this childhood adventure that we did 3 or 4 times. We followed the Toronto Maple Leafs faithfully and decided to see them play in Montreal vs the Montreal Canadiens. We would get on the Greyhound in Downtown Toronto around midnight, arrive in downtown Montreal early morning Saturday. We would do whatever, definitely eating at Montreal's famous delis, and then  go to the game for Saturday night. The Leafs usually lost which was nothing unusual but boy did we enjoy ourselves. . We would then return on the overnight bus to Toronto.. Hart's Dad, Sydney would try to somehow get us the seats to the Forum or we would pickup standing room seats from the box office of the arena. This was very adventurous for a couple of boys who were in their early teens. I guess our parents saw us as responsible and allowed us to take these trips on. Hart, I will always cherish moments like these. They were special.

Hart was a true gentleman with a big heart, who cared deeply about the crew he worked with.  I always admired how a man with so much on his plate could remain so poised, so organized, while continuing to be calm and kind.
This might finally be the year the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup, Hart. When they do, I’ll raise a glass to you.

He was fantastic working with his staff and the thousands of housekeeping personnel on the ships. He never seemed to lose his temper or appear frustrated.
