Koaalii "Koa" Mahiai Keaulana

November 14, 1983 – August 7, 2026

Koa’alii Mahiai Viritua Keaulana, lovingly known as Koa, passed away on August 7, 2026, at the age of 42.

Koa will be remembered as a hardworking man who was always hustling and never afraid of a hard day’s work. He had an incredible gift for working with his hands. There was hardly a machine he couldn’t take apart, figure out, put back together, and bring to life again. Whether repairing something that seemed beyond repair or finding a way to make something work, Koa had a natural talent and determination that made him truly one of a kind.

But Koa was so much more than what he could do with his hands. He loved his people deeply. He was always willing to lend a hand, help someone in need, or show up when it mattered. His sense of humor and ability to make people laugh were part of who he was, and those who knew him will remember the laughter, stories, and unforgettable moments that seemed to follow wherever Koa went.

Koa lived life in his own way—working hard, staying busy, helping others, and always finding another project, another machine, or another challenge to take on. He had a special ability to see potential in things others might have given up on. With patience, skill, and a little bit of Koa magic, he could bring machines back to life.

Koa was preceded in death by his father, Moses K. Keaulana.

He is survived by his loving mother, Neria Keaulana; his brothers, Robert Keaulana, Raymond Keaulana, Kawai Keaulana, and Kahele Keaulana; and his sisters, Kahiwa Mawae and Tammy Keaulana, along with many family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were touched by him.

Koa’s life was far too short, but the mark he left on the people who loved him will remain. We will remember his hardworking hands, his humor, his willingness to help, and most of all, the love he had for his people.

May we carry Koa with us in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and every time something broken is given another chance and brought back to life.

Rest easy, Koa. You worked hard, you loved your people, and you will never be forgotten.
