Our beloved Tutu lived life the same way she dressed—bold, vibrant, and full of color. Born and raised in Mountain View, she carried that unmistakable Big Island sass and aloha everywhere she went. She was “Ms. Aloha” in every sense; no matter where we took her, she knew someone, and every quick stop turned into a full conversation.
She adored her bright outfits, her sparkling jewelry, and her iPad. You would always catch either KIKU or a Korean drama playing on her television. You would find her in the kitchen either making her famous spaghetti or baking a ton of pies to bring to Thanksgiving dinner. And when it came to Las Vegas, no one loved the casino more than she did. We’d lose track of time while she happily played for hours and eventually had to pull her away just to get her to her hotel room. In fact, we know that is where she is right now, partying it up with Papa and her son-in-law, Les.
Tutu loved her family deeply-her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren-but her heart always belonged to one person: her husband, our Papa. Since he passed years ago, she has missed him every single day. Now, we take comfort knowing she is finally where she has always wanted to be-back at his side.
Fierce, funny, stubborn in all the right ways, and filled with aloha, Tutu left us with stories, laughter, and a love that will last long after today. We miss her deeply, but we celebrate her life with gratitude for every colorful moment she shared with us.
