Peter “Pete” Keoneula Jr., 86, born January 6, 1940, in Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on August 22, 2026. Pete will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection—as a beloved husband, father, and grandfather whose steady devotion and kind-hearted presence shaped the lives of those around him. Through a life marked by hard work and quiet generosity, he offered care in practical ways and encouragement in faithful ones, leaving a legacy of service that will not be forgotten.
Pete served in the US Navy, carrying forward a sense of duty that continued throughout his working life and into his community commitments. He worked as a mason foreman and later became self-employed as a major appliance installation and repairman—roles that reflected his reliability, skill, and willingness to do the work that needed doing. He also gave of his time as a volunteer big brother with Big Brothers of Hawaii, extending patient guidance and steady support to others beyond his own family. In addition, Pete served as a Lay Pastor at Hauula Congregational Church, offering leadership rooted in humility and care.
Faith and community were central to Pete’s life. He worshiped at Kaumakapili Church and Kahikuonalani Church, where his devotion was expressed through years of active service. He taught Sunday School, advised youth, and served on the Board of Deacons. He was Church Council President, Young Adults Group President, and Disciple Ministry Director—positions that spoke not to a desire for recognition, but to a generous readiness to step forward and help strengthen the church family he loved.
Pete is survived by his wife, Lorene; daughter, Mele; stepsons, Mason, Lance, and Sam; and 9 Grandchildren.
