Born and raised in Honolulu on April 7, 1935, Ralph was the fourth of eight children born to Isamu and Kane Shishido: Raymond (deceased), Elaine, Calvin (deceased), Danny (deceased), Laura Ushijima, Katherine Ito, and Steven (Charlotte).
Ralph later moved to Chicago to attend medical school at Northwestern University, where he also met and later married his wife of nearly 55 years, Margaret Sasaki Shishido.
After his graduation, Dr. Shishido then served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, Kansas. Following his service, he built a reputation for excellence as a pathologist in La Jolla, California, before eventually returning home to Honolulu for his retirement.
Dr. Ralph M. Shishido passed away peacefully at his home in Honolulu on July 2, 2026.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Linda, and his wife, Margaret Sasaki Shishido. He is survived by his loving sons, Keith Shishido (Lynette) and Glenn Shishido (Laurie); his two granddaughters, Katherine and Caroline (Fabian); and many nieces and nephews.
