

Raymond Quaresma Gouveia, Jr., a beloved member of the Honolulu community, passed away on October 22, 2024. Born on December 27, 1936, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Raymond lived a life rich in service, family, and community spirit.
Raymond's life was marked by his deep commitment to family and the Aloha spirit. He is survived by his sister, Priscilla Kaninau, and brothers Reginald and Ronald Yang. He was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline Gouveia, and siblings Anita Gouveia and Frank Yang. Raymond leaves behind his children, Renee Fung, Gary Gouveia, and Ramie Fung as well as seven cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Guy Gouveia.
Raymond proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he distinguished himself as their “Golden Gloves” Boxing Champion (Europe). Following his military service, he was an accomplished Maintenance Mechanic and worked for various companies, most recently, the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel in Waikiki in which he retired after many years of committed service.
A man of diverse interests, Raymond was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Honolulu Aerie 140. He was also a skilled and passionate boxer and golfer. He belonged to various Golf Clubs such as the Hui O Haiku Golf Club (Kaneohe) and the Olomana Pitbulls (Kailua). His love for the Aina was evident at his home in Ioleka’a Valley in Kaneohe. For over 40 years, he spent time clearing and beautifying the land and growing Kalo to share with friends and family.
Raymond's legacy is one of generosity and sharing, as he abundantly imparted his knowledge and passion for life with those around him. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, as he embodied the true essence of living in the Aloha way. His family and friends will forever hold him in their hearts, celebrating a life well-lived.
