It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosetta Kong Lum, aged 85, who left us peacefully at her Kaneohe home in the company of her loving family. Born on June 12, 1939, Rosetta was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunty, and friend whose generosity, warmth and kindness touched all who knew her.
Rosetta was renowned for her exceptional cooking and baking skills, which she lovingly shared with her family and friends. She took great joy in inviting people to her home to enjoy meals with the family. No one ever left her home hungry.
She is survived by her loving children, Edward (Roberta St Sure) Lum, Doreen (Donn) Takebayashi, Lisa Lum and Albert (Tracy) Lum, grandchildren Elise (Jacob Mann) Takebayashi and Michael Takebayashi, step grandchildren Alika (Debi Kato) Apana, Maya (George Xourafas) Apana, and Lehia (Brad Bayless) Apana and step-great grandchildren Kekai Apana and Ariston Xourafas. She is also survived by her sisters Patricia Lee and Antoinette Woolley and brother Lee Lopez as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Herman Lum, parents Stanley Kong and Etta De Costa and siblings Marietta Kaeo and Stanley Kong. Rosetta’s legacy lives on in her family, who will forever treasure the memories of her gentle spirit, wisdom, and the deep love she showed them.
Rosetta’s life was a testament to the power of love and family, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of her life will be held on September 19, 2024, at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will start at 4:00 pm. Private burial will be held at a later date. The family kindly requests no flowers.
