Scott was truly a special soul who made the world a better place just by being himself. I enjoyed our talks when we worked together at AUW. When I retired, he wrote me, “As they say, goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end, they simply mean I’ll miss you and see you again.” Rest in peace, Scott. I trust our souls will meet again.

Today, I received heartbreaking news that a dear friend and colleague, Scott, passed away. My heart is heavy.

When I joined Aloha United Way many moons ago, Scott was someone I instantly vibed with. We became close friends, and I loved his energy, humor, and personality. He had a natural way of making people laugh and feel seen, and his kindness and generosity came so easily.

Even after I left, we stayed connected, though as life often does, we eventually lost touch. Learning of his passing brought back a flood of memories—from bachelorette parties to campaigns, Spirit of Community Awards, donor functions, and so many moments in between. It was always a blast with Scott.

I searched through old photos and found this one which perfectly captured our friendship.

Aloha, my friend. You were a bright, shining light in this world, and I am truly blessed to have known you. My deepest condolences and aloha to his ʻohana during this difficult time.

Scott was an extraordinary individual who poured his heart into serving others. Whether in Las Vegas or Hawaii, he cared deeply for everyone in the communities he touched. Scott was my mentor and colleague at United Way, and I will forever be grateful for the wisdom, guidance, and skills he shared with me. He was, without question, one of the greatest fundraisers this organization has ever known.

I miss him deeply, but I am thankful for the time I had with him as both a colleague and a friend. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

I am sorry for your loss.  I worked for Scott at Aloha United Way in Honolulu prior to joining the military.  He was a kind man with a big heart.  I enjoyed working for him and we remained close friends.  I wish I would have visited him in Vegas after he moved there.  I have been too focused on work and will regret not taking that trip.  Rest in peace Bruddah

Prayers for strength and comfort to Scott's family during this difficult time. 
We worked together at United Way of Southern NV and hit it off immediately. He shared so much of his nonprofit knowledge with me. I appreciated it immensely!
We kept in touch after I left the organization. I'm sad that we didn't get one more laugh in together but thankful for the friendship we had.
