Stella Teruko Nakamura (Yamanoha) suddenly went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2026 at the age of 93, just two weeks shy of her 24th birthday. Stella, the oldest of 7 children, was born on the island of Maui to Kasei and Hatsue Yamanoha on February 24, 1932. She graduated from Maui High School and subsequently completed her nursing training at Kuakini Hospital. Stella married Yoshiaki Nakamura on January 27, 1956 and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage until Yoshiaki’s passing on March 15, 2017.
Stella worked as a registered nurse at the Kuakini Medical Center‘s surgical department until her retirement on December 28, 1991. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who served her family tirelessly. Her daughters, Lynn and Terry, will always be grateful for her sacrificial acts of service and her generous spirit.
She loved traveling, reading, spending time with her grandchildren and staying active.
Stella is survived by her daughters Lynn Kam and Terry Green, her son-in-laws Wayland Kam and Kevin Green, and her grandchildren Michael Kam and Ciera-Joy Ulmer.
Stella will be profoundly missed. She left this earth too soon but there is comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ…and with Yoshiaki, her best friend and husband.
