Trudy Ilima Chang, 81, of Waimanalo, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Trudy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and a woman whose faith was an important part of her life.
Trudy’s greatest joy was her 'Ohana. She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward AhYim Chang; her sons, Edward Jr. (Carmelita), Ernest (Joanelle), Earl, Emerson (Trina), and Erving (Nicole); and her daughters, Laura Arcibal (Jeff) and Kathy Vierra (Philip). She leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who brought her countless moments of love and happiness. She is also survived by her brother, Eric K. Kamanu (Charlene).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Harriet Kamanu; her brothers, Clayton Kamanu and Aron Kamanu; and her sister, Ethel Kamanu.
Trudy’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, ʻOhana, faith, and the importance of cherishing the people God places in our lives. Her faith gave her strength throughout her journey and reminds us that death is not the end, but a homecoming to be with God. Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
Her memory will live on through her ʻOhana she loved so dearly - the stories shared, the lessons passed down, the laughter around the table, the traditions carried forward, and the love that will continue through each generation.
As we say goodbye, we do so with grateful hearts for the years, memories, laughter, and love we were blessed to share with her. While she will be deeply missed, we hold onto our faith and the hope that one day we will see her again.
Services will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Hawaiian Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow.
Casual attire is requested.
