Wilson Torres Vinano, a beloved and devoted individual, passed away on January 20, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on April 20, 1931, in Kauai, Hawaii, Wilson was known for his hard-working, compassionate, and honest nature. He was a kind-hearted, loyal, patient, resilient, selfless, thoughtful, and wise man who touched the lives of many.
Wilson moved to Waimanalo when he was in the 7th grade. At the age of 18, he joined the Army and served in the Korean War. He dedicated two years to active duty and continued his service in the reserves until he was 80 years old, showcasing his commitment and dedication to his country.
Wilson married Helen Margaret Meyer, and together they built a loving family. They had five children and adopted four more, creating a warm and nurturing environment for their family. Wilson was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
In his personal life, Wilson enjoyed carving tiki's and various other items. He took great pleasure in taking his grandchildren to sports events, sharing his passions and interests with his family.
Wilson is survived by his children: Wilson Vinano Jr., Ricky Vinano, Michael Vinano, JoAnn Vinano, DonnaMae Vinano, and adopted children Justus Vinano, Kawika Vinano, Kekoa Vinano, and Felicia Vinano. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Margaret Vinano.
A visitation will be held at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery & Funeral Services, located at 45-425 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii, on March 31, 2026, at 9:00 am. The funeral service will follow at the same venue at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, 45-349 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii, at 2:00 pm.
Pallbearers for the services will include Jerome Vinano, Michael Vinano Jr., Zachary Vinano, Justus Vinano, Derwin Wright, Bully Kakuda, and Ivan Akau.
