

Yasuhiko was born in Taiwan on December 26, 1935 to parents Sunao and Hatsuko Akamine.
After graduating from the University of Mie (Department of Aquaculture) in 1954. He worked at the Kurumaebi Yoshoku Lab in Kagawa, Japan.
He moved to Florida in 1968 and worked in the shrimp aquaculture business at Marifarms until 1973. From 1973 - 1978, he operated Vero Beach Aquariums in Florida. From 1984 -1986, moved to South America and taught at the Technical College Escuela de la Politecnica and started and operated his own Aquaculture Consulting business from 1986 - 1998.
In 2000, he moved to Hawaii and opened and operated Ake Shrimp Inc. from 2003 - 2010. He retired in 2010.
He was a member of the following clubs and organizations: Hawaii Tanka Association, Seigaiha Tanka Association Japan, Kansai Shigin, BSC Shakuhachi Club, Ilima Echo Choir, and Hawaii Taiwan Club.
His favorite hobbies were drawing and painting, playing the shakuhachi, writing poetry, and singing. He won several Tanka Awards received from NHK and various Tanka Associations.
Yasuhiko was predeceased by mother and father and Teruo Furuta, (brother), Hideo Akamine (brother), Mitsuko Akamine (sister), Akio Akamine (brother), Yoshiko Morita (sister), and Masao Akamine (brother).
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Keiko Akamine, daughters Kaori Brown (husband Douglas Brown) and Naomi Lee (husband Steven Lee), and grandson Jae-Sun Brown.
The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to Adventist Health Castle Hospital, Malama Ola Hospice team, and Island Temporary Nursing for the outstanding support and care given to Yasu. and for all who have extended kind thoughts and offers to help during this time.
He will rest at Hawaiian Memorial Park (private ceremony).
