Anita “Annie” Young, 79, of KCK, passed away November 21, 2018 at home surrounded by family. A visitation will be 4:00-6:00pm, Thursday, November 29th with funeral services at 6:00pm all at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112. Interment will be at 11:00am, Friday, November 30th at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS 66048.

Annie was born December 14, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas to Ruth and Fred Contreras, Sr. She attended Argentine High School and worked for Artex as a clothing inspector. Annie married the love of her life, Warren Glenn Young, Sr. on September 26, 1955. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage before his passing in 1990. She enjoyed bowling, was a member of the Eagles’ Lodge, going to the casino, and was a die-hard fan of the Chiefs. Annie loved being a grandma (and great-grandma and great-great grandma) more than anything.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Glenn Young, Sr.; and her daughter, Margaret “Taco” Berrey.

Annie is survived by her children, Elizabeth Wise (Dennis) of KCK, Anita Marie Walls (Robert) of Huntsville, MO, and Glenn Young, Jr. (Devona) of Topeka, KS; her adopted son, Kenny Moore (Patty) of KCK; her sisters, Margaret Myers, Bea Calhoon, and Donna Cutrera; her brother, Richard Sanchez; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
