Barbara L. Pittman

Barbara Pittman, 81, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away September 24, 2012. Memorial Services will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 29 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Private inurnment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KU Med Center or the Olathe Towers.

Barbara was born August 4, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas to George and Lorraine K. (Summers) Dooley. She grew up in the KC area, graduating from Washington High School in 1949. Barb worked a variety of jobs throughout her life; as a secretary then manager for Sears, secretary for law offices and in her 40s, she graduated from Wichita State with a degree in General Studies. She later worked at KU Med Center and retired in 1992. Barb was active at the Olathe Towers Homeowner’s board as president. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, beading and other crafts, cooking and she loved to learn. Barb was a wonderful gift-wrapper, her presents were almost too pretty to open and she loved taking care of everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lorraine, her son Christopher Pittman, her aunts Elaine Beck and Lerlene Berry and cousin Bob Berry.

Barb is survived by her former husband Gerald N. Pittman, her son Shawn Pittman of Dillon, Colorado, cousins John and Jeff Beck, second cousin John Beck, Jr. and many other family and friends.
