Bobby Joe Essig

Bobby Joe Essig, 69 of Tonganoxie, KS passed away October 18, 2011 at this home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Sat., Oct. 22 at the Chapel Hill Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Fri, Oct. 21 from 5-7 at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to White Church Christian Church, 2200 North 85th Street, Kansas City, KS 66109.

Bobby Joe was born on January 13, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to Simon Jess Essig and Bertha Elizabeth Charles Essig. He worked as a mechanic for most of his working life and retired in 2004 after working at KU Hospital as a supervisor for 8 years. He was in the Navy and served on the USS Lexington CVA-16 from 1960-1962. He was a member of the Masons. Bobby enjoyed many hobbies, such as golf, fishing, gardening and walking his dog, Apache.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Bertha, his brother Stephen Essig and his grandson Dane Nikias.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Neressia Essig, his daughters Marsha Baker, Sindy English, Gina Benson and Nicki Benson. He also leaves his sister Carolyn Bowman, grandchildren Nickol Moore, Brandon Hutto, and great grandchildren Faith Stark and Steven Moore to cherish his memory.
