

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel G. (Carroll) Young and Louis A. Young of Kansas City, KS, three sisters Frances L. Johnson of Merriam, KS, Carol Daugherty of Kansas City, KS and JoAnn Ball of Mission Hills, KS.
She is survived by her husband Robert S. Berkstresser of Lansing, KS, a son, Robert L. and wife Debra Berkstresser of Gowen, MI, a daughter Donna L. and husband Melvin Cape of Lansing, KS, grandchildren: Jeff Berkstresser,
Chris Roach, Holly Berkstresser, Bryan Berkstresser and Sarah Cape, Step-grandchildren: Jaimie Asay, Erin Cape, and John Cape. Great-grandchildren: Makenna Berkstresser, Aiden Cape, Delvin Berkstresser, and Langston Berkstresser. Nieces: Debbie Simpson, Diane Wilkerson, Peggy Harvard, Sue Ellen Rabeaux, and Holly Kindig. Nephews: Steven Daugherty, Stanley Daugherty, Darrell Johnson, Donald Johnson, David Ball, Brant Berkstresser, Scott Brown, John Brubaker, and Justin Berkstresser.
Brenda was a graduate of Washington High School, Kansas City, KS., class of 1959. During her grade school and high school years she was active and enjoyed her involvement in the 4-H programs. She also was involved in the music programs, and very much enjoyed singing in the choir and operettas. She participated in a variety of sports including volleyball, cheerleading, Home Coming Royalty and was involved in many school activities.
After graduating from high school Brenda was employed in the computer department of Colgate Palmolive Co. During the children's school years she was active in PTA. Several years later she managed the "Tots Day Out" child care program in Kansas City, KS. She also worked for J.C. Penney Co. for many years.
Brenda loved the outdoors and loved time spent with family activities.
After retirement Brenda enjoyed participating in an exercise class (Movers & Shakers) that was part of her Red Hat society group.
She had much love for her family which was always a high priority for her. Brenda was well known within her family circle for her amazing talent of good common sense advice, which she freely gave when required!
Brenda will be greatly missed by all that knew her, friends, family and her devoted husband of fifty nine years and eight months.
Brenda was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Lansing, Kansas, and had a strong love for the Lord.
