

Brent Riley Nelson, 46, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away April 8, 2014. A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, April 16th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. A private family graveside will be held at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Trinity Nursing and Rehab, 9700 W. 62nd St., Merriam, KS 66203.
Brent was born April 28, 1967 in Kansas City, KS to James and Karen (Woods) Nelson. He graduated from Washington High School in 1985. He attended Johnson County Community College and studied HVAC Technology. Following his certification for HVAC, he also received certification as an EPA technician in 2003. He worked at Baader-Johnson Food Equipment, Inc. in the manufacturing plant and was later promoted to installing and repairing chicken processing machines worldwide from 1988-1995. From 1995-2003 he worked for Dietrich Metal Framing in Lenexa, KS in the manufacturing metal framing department. After 2003 he spent his time caring for his father in the home. In his spare time, Brent loved working on computers, cars, and building different projects.
Brent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Loren Riley Nelson, Marjorie Lee (Hall) Nelson, Paul Wilbur Woods and Anna Mae (Harper) Woods. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his father, James Riley Nelson; mother, Karen Marie Courtwright; step-father, James Robert Courtwright; sister, Kimberlee Ann and husband Steven Kaye Martin; niece, Hillary LeeAnn Martin; nephew, Blake Steven Martin and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
