It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved aunt, Carol Vivian Brown, who departed this life on February 2, 2026. Carol was born on November 12, 1937, in Texarkana, AR, and throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with kindness, generosity, loyal friendships and a distinctive sense of humor.
Carol was cherished by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her love of dogs, her creative talents, especially her beautiful quilts, baby clothes and blankets, and her passion for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.
She married Alan Brown (Uncle Brownie) in 1960 after meeting him at TWA (Transworld Airlines). She was an executive secretary in the engineering department. After leaving TWA she worked on improving her bowling scores, taking care of her home, her husband, and her beloved dogs, before returning to work. She worked for many years at Peddlers Wagon, a quilt and fabric store in Parkville, MO, which she thoroughly enjoyed and kept her busy.
She will especially be remembered for sewing baby blankets for all her nieces and nephew’s children. Each blanket she made was unique. They wrapped each child with her love and were cherished.
She is survived by her nieces, Cheryl Saunders, Debbie Denson, Denise Campanella, Doris Park and Linda Poindexter, and her nephew, Bill Churchwell, along with many great-nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Alan Brown, her brothers William Churchwell and Joseph Churchwell and her nieces Karen Bortka and Nancy Novosel.
A memorial service will be held on Monday February 9, 2026, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Visitation at 10:00 am and Service at 11:00. All who know and love Carol are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
Though Carol is no longer with us, her spirit and memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in peace.
The family would like to thank Kansas City Hospice and Palliative care for all the care they gave to Carol and her family.
