Carol Jean Cunningham

Carol dedicated many years of her professional life to Human Resources at Dillard’s, where her warmth and dedication left a lasting impression. A devoted member of Christ the King Church since the 1950s and more recently St. Patrick’s Church, she served faithfully as a eucharistic minister and contributed her time to administrative duties and the Little Flower Circle.

Carol’s spirit of service extended beyond the church walls. Alongside her beloved husband Marvin of 64 years, she volunteered at the local food kitchen after retirement. Ever eager to share in his interests, she even took up bowling to join him in his favorite pastime.

An only child with a deep desire for a large family, Carol raised six children and found joy in her growing family tree. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Laurie & Bob Box, Kelly & Daron Maier, Mindy & Joe McCabe, and Lisa & Billy Urquhart. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Michelle, Ryan, Blake, Morgan, Holly, Brooke, Allison, Liz, Ian, and Conner; her great-grandchildren J.T., Hailey, Emma, Landon, Jackson & Maci, Nora and Jaylen, Chloe, Finn, Cash and Rowan; and great-great-granddaughter Hazel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Marvin Gene Cunningham, and her two sons Michael and Patrick Cunningham.

Carol was known for her fun-loving nature and generous heart—always the light of the party and ready to lend a hand. Her love for crafts and community volunteering reflected her vibrant personality.

A memorial visitation will be held on January 3, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1088 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS 66111. A memorial mass will follow at 10:30 am on January 3, 2026, at St Patrick's Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s, the Heart Association, or the Cancer Society.
