

Caroline Van Meeteren Scudder, 95, passed away February 2, 2016 at Bonner Springs Nursing and Rehab Center. Private family services were held at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home with interment at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Caroline was born August 20, 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Ogden, Utah with her father, mother and 13 brothers and sisters. After marrying her husband William Harrison Scudder, January 1, 1949 in Elko, Nevada they lived in Roy, Utah. They moved to Park Forrest, Illinois; Sioux City, Iowa; Spencer, Iowa; and Emporia, Kansas. They retired in Roy, Utah. Finally, settling in Kansas City, Kansas to enjoy life with their daughter and her family. Caroline was an amazing woman. She was so creative. She loved to paint and to crewel embroidery. She sewed making clothing for her family. She sewed beautiful Barbie doll clothing first for her daughter and then for her granddaughter. Cooking and baking were a joy for her. Her gardens never had a weed. She loved golfing, reading, playing games and cards with her girlfriends and her family. Her husband William H. Scudder and her son-in-law Jeffrey Alan Schettino preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Billie Schettino, her granddaughter Nicole Marie Schettino, her brother Frank VanMeeteren (Jean), and nieces and nephews in Ogden, Utah. Billie and Nicole wish to thank the caring staff at Bonner Springs Nursing and the Avalon Hospice staff who took such loving care of their mom and grandma.
