

Carolyn Sue (Womack) Marx, 77, of Leavenworth, Kansas, passed away December 29, 2016 at home. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm, Monday, January 2nd at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, January 3rd at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Encompass Hospice.
Carolyn was born January 10, 1939 in Kansas City, Kansas to Homer and Marguerite Womack. She worked for A & P Grocery for six years and then took care of her home and family. Carolyn married Gary Marx on March 15, 1958 and they raised three children together. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal in Kansas City, Missouri. Carolyn enjoyed painting ceramics every Monday, bowled in leagues at Ranch West (now KC Bowl) and could always find time to shop.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Robert W. Marx.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gary Marx, Sr. of Lansing, KS; her children, Gary Marx, Jr. and his wife Gayle of Basehor, KS and Deborah Barrett of Leavenworth, KS; her brother, Homer Womack, Jr. and his wife Vicki of KCK; her sister, Dianne Closson and her husband George of Hermitage, MO; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandbaby on the way.
