

Charlie was born on May 13, 1944, to Charles Johnson and Juanita Johnson. A proud patriot and dedicated public servant, he served his country as a Naval Corpsman with the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he earned a master's degree in criminal justice from Central Missouri State University and devoted more than 30 years of service to the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant.
Throughout his life, Charlie was known for his integrity, sense of duty, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He spent his career protecting others and helping make his community a safer place. Even after retirement, he remained a trusted friend, mentor, and source of laughter to those around him.
Charlie never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome. He had a special affection for animals, especially his beloved kitty, Baby Baby. He loved spending time with family, friends, and pets, and few things made him happier than sharing laughs over a bowl of popcorn.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Deanna Johnson; his daughter, Heather Hulett (Brent);his son, Clint Johnson; his step-daughter Heidi Loges (Mike); his cherished grandchildren, Taylor Rae Hulett, Reghan Nicole Loges, and Braylon Tucker; his half-brother, Scott Johnson; and numerous extended family members, friends, former colleagues, and all those whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Johnson Sr. and Juanita Johnson; his brother, Ronald Johnson; his sister, Ella Mae Klatt and other beloved family members.
Visitation will be held at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS 66112 on June 10th from 5-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home on June 11th at 11:00am. Interment will follow immediately at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
