Charles Wagner was a New Year’s Baby, born January 1, 1936 in Kansas City, Kansas. Charles also known as Charlie, Uncle Charlie, Chuck, and Dad, was called home to heaven on August 15, 2020. Charles was 84 years old and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia, and they just celebrated their anniversary on August 7th, 2020. Charles is survived by his two brothers, Richard and Don, and a sister Delores along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two sons Steven and his wife, Patti Wagner of Keller, Texas and Jeff and his wife, Heather Wagner of Olathe, KS, Charles is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Kyle, Mary Beth, Matthew, Ashley, Tanner, Bethany, and Meagan.
Charles was a life long baker who knew at an early age, that baking was his calling. He worked in numerous bakeries from North Kansas City with his Uncle George, to Manor Bakery in KCMO, then Paris, TX, and Baton Rouge, LA. Charles also had a green thumb and loved working in his yard producing an amazing back yard full of beautiful flowers, banana trees and palm trees in Denham Springs, LA for over 36 years. His yard was so luxurious that he was once named Gardner of the month by the Denham Springs, Garden association. Charles served in the Army, stationed in Germany followed by 12 years in the Army reserves. Charles also enjoyed being a color guard for the American Legion for over 12 years where he provided comfort and honor by presenting arms at many funerals for veterans.
