Charles Stearns Heinsohn (Charlie, Chuck, Norris) was born on January 24, 1961 in Topeka, Kansas to Ray and Betty (Buchheim) Heinsohn. Charles was the youngest of three children. Brother Rodney Heinsohn (Elizabeth) of Merriam, Kansas and sister Tina Pugh (Warren) of Mayetta, Kansas.
Charles attended Washburn Rural High School. In addition, he furthered his education at Kaw Area Technical School for mechanics. In Charles’ time he had numerous work ventures including sheriff’s cadet, roofer, steeplejack services, grounds keeping, meat locker, property owner, entrepreneur and most importantly a belly dancer. Charles ended his working career in a family-owned business. He truly was a jack of all trades and a master of none!
Charles had two previous daughters Megan Ann Heinsohn and Bailey Nicole Heinsohn (Skyler) before meeting the love of his life Peggy Ann Heinsohn. He gained four more children, all boys Shane Michael Farmer, Cole Steven Farmer, Jesse Ryan Farmer and Jake Randle Farmer (Kaitlin). During Peggy and Charles’ 31 years together, they were blessed with one more boy Dooley Ray Heinsohn.
In Charles’ final years he enjoyed his life in the country tending to many of his hobbies which included gardening, fishing, spending time with dogs, mooning the local harvesters, truck drives, napping, spending evenings on his tailgate with a chew and diet Pepsi and most importantly his grandpa duties. Charles had five grandchildren. Emma Jo Heinsohn, Tucker Ray Heinsohn, Mason Alexander Farmer, Myla AnnaLee Farmer and Ellicia Nicole Heinsohn. Several Aunts and Uncles, Nieces and Nephews and a plethora of cousins. Along with many and we do mean many friends. And his dogs Abby and Chance. Baby sitting and spending time with his grandchildren was one of his favorite things to do next to telling a good joke.
Charles was one of the most kind hearted and carefree individuals you had ever met. He would go above and beyond to help others and was the kind of man that would give you the 4 XL shirt off his back. If you’re reading this, then you more than likely know the impact he had on people’s lives or how he could brighten a dull room with one of his absurd jokes or a good prank. Even though Charles is gone, his memory will go on forever and he will be sincerely missed.
