

Clayton D. Carter, 88, of KCK, passed away March 27, 2016 at home surrounded by family. A visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm, Thursday, March 31st at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be 11:00am, Friday, April 1st at the funeral home. Interment with Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels for the Wyandotte County Area on Aging, 849 N 47th St., Ste. C, Kansas City, KS 66102.
Clayton was born on October 12, 1927 in Smart Township, Arkansas to Node and Fanny May Carter. He grew up in Arkansas and graduated from University of Missouri with his Pharmacy degree in 1957. Clayton served in the US Army as a Corporal and Combat Medic at Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas. He married the love of his life, Bonnie on July 3, 1951. Clayton worked for over 45 years as a pharmacist and often did relief work for other pharmacists after his retirement. He was very active as a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #24. Clayton was a proud member of the NRA and loved nature, especially feeding the squirrels that were lucky enough to live in his yard. He enjoyed folk and country music and often made trips to the Bean Music Fest in Arkansas with his wife and sons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Bonnie Carter; and his siblings, Effie, Ava Fay, Opal, Lois and Doyle Ray.
Clayton is survived by his sons, Danny Carter of KCK, and Steve Carter (Francie) of KCK; his grandson, Ryan Metzger of KCK; and his siblings, Oran of Yellville, AR, Odel of Star City, AR, Dale of Mountain View, AR, and Noble of Lane, KS.
