

Clinton was the son of James Clinton and Margaret Sue (Hobbs) Powell. He grew up in Kansas City, KS and graduated from Washington High School in 1970. He attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He worked at CED-Rensenhouse Electric Supply as a purchasing manager for over 40 years. During this time and after, he had an engraving business.
Clinton married the love of his life, JoAnne Ozbolt in 1974. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on October 12th of last year. Together they raised four children, Neil Clinton Powell, of Kansas City, KS, Brooke Elaine (Jay) Stack of Olathe, KS, Lauren Elizabeth Powell of Shawnee, KS, and Megan Anne (Dominic) Serrano of Roeland Park, KS.
Clinton is predeceased by his parents, his brother Thomas Orville Powell, sisters Judy Lynn Powell and Sandra Jo McCoy, sister-in-law Barbara Jean Powell, his nieces Sheila Renee Powell and Jennifer Marie Henke, and his in-laws Phillip and Angeline Ozbolt.
In addition to his loving wife and children, Clinton is survived by his grandsons Phillip Mitchell Powell of Denver, CO. and Ryan James Stack of Olathe, KS.
Clinton dedicated his life to his family and friends bringing his quick wit and humor to every occasion. He never missed a basketball game, softball game or dance performance. He participated in every local Fragile X fundraiser. He loved live music, hunting, the KU Jayhawks, rolling dice and playing cards. He was a fiercely loyal & genuine man, remaining friends with his elementary school buddies, Scammahorn & Shatto. He had a standing poker game with Hicks, Leet, Rich, Schuler, Toevs and Pestock which started shortly after high school.
Clinton was infinitely loved by his family and all who knew him and he will be deeply missed. He was a wonderful man and his memory will live on in all the many lives he touched.
A visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 21st at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112.
