
Cris was born March 4, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas to Archie and Bessie Cox. She graduated from Wyandotte High School and worked for 25 years as a Police Dispatcher for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, retiring in 2000. Cris enjoyed painting and crochet, and loved watching movies and tennis, especially when Andre Agassi was playing. She enjoyed country music and spending time with friends at the VFW Lodge. Cris had a great sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to let her opinion be known. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lisa Slaughter, and her brother, Raymond “Red” Cox.
Cris is survived by her daughter, Sherri Winsor and her husband Daniel; her son, Blaine Smith and his wife Debbie; her brother, Ronald Cox of Florida; her grandchildren, Trisha Giles, Jeremy Smith and his wife Kayla, and Jenna Slaughter; as well as five great-grandchildren, and other family members and friends.
