

Curtis E. Maupin, 82, of KCK, passed away August 19th. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5th at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64137.
Curtis was born September 25, 1932 in Missouri to James and Nadine Maupin. He served his country in the Army and after his honorable discharge, opened his own motorcycle repair shop. Curtis was an accomplished BSA motorcycle racer and also got his Golden Gloves in boxing while in the service. After his shop, he started hauling for a variety of brokers all over the United States in his big rig. He always had his two dogs by his side, Roxie and Strudel. Curtis watched Nascar and boxing matches whenever he could. He was a very independent man and knew the roads of this country like the back of his hand. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Clara L. Hallier.
He is survived by his nephew, Lloyd Hallier, Jr.; his nieces Deena Hallier and her husband Dave, and LaDean Bradshaw and her husband Kelly; as well as a great nephew, many great nieces, and other friends and family.
