

Curtis A. Smith, 52, of Kansas City, KS, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at Providence Place. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 28, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, January 27 at the funeral home. The family requests that any contributions be made to the Kansas City Kansas Community College Endowment Fund.
Curtis was born April 2, 1960 in Kansas City, KS to Donald and Catherine (Hinkle) Smith. A lifelong Kansas City area resident, he graduated from Schlagle High School in 1978, and had been a Custodian at Kansas City Kansas Community College for the last 23 years. Curtis enjoyed bowling, baseball, basketball and football, as well as collecting baseball and racing paraphernalia. He genuinely liked helping people; everyone could always count on Curtis! He loved working at KCKCC, and he was known for his dedication to completing every assignment with pride. Curtis was a very giving, loving, and forgiving friend.
He was preceded in death by his father in 2005; his mother in 2009; and two brothers, Steven Donald Smith in 1999 and Larry Edward Smith in 2005.
Survivors include two sisters, Melleri Marie Williams and husband Gary of Kansas City, KS, and Leann Capp and husband Dennis of Olathe, KS; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
