Darlene Evelyn (Lucas) Heater, 89, Spring Hill, KS (formerly of Turner, KS) passed away on August 3, 2021. Services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Visitation begin at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Darlene was born on July 11, 1932 in Kansas City, KS, the youngest daughter of William and Anna Lucas. She attended Turner High School and then worked at Fairbanks Morse Pump Corporation where she met her husband Joseph W. Heater, Jr.
Darlene was active in Immanuel Lutheran Church where she and Joe married on May 14, 1955. They raised their four children in the same house that Darlene grew up. After retirement, they moved to Linn Valley Lakes in Lacygne, KS where they enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Darlene was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters, Helen Ruttinger and Dorothy Leuthen. She is survived by many loving family members and friends, including her children and their spouses, JW Heater III (Linda), Darla Hilgardner (Franks), Diane Terrell (Shawn), and David Heater (Tina); grandchildren, Kristen Heater Shackleford, Joseph Heater IV, Nancy Hilgardner Easton, Katherine Hilgardner Zeh, Brandy Heater and Ryan Heater; and great-grandchildren , Cede, Everett, Frankie, Jameson, Hudson, Presley, Nolan, Addilyn, and James.
