

Dave ‘Popeye’ Roy, 70, formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center. A gathering of Friends and family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9th, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, where his Celebration of Life will begin at 8:00 p.m.
Dave was born May 19, 1946 in McLeansboro, Illinois, to Sherman Lee and Patricia (Hoskins) Roy. He was raised in Illinois, and continued to live and work there before moving to Macon, Missouri, and then to Kansas City, Kansas, where he lived for 24 years, before moving to Buffalo, Kansas 5 years ago. Dave owned and operated R&R Repair, which was located at the truck terminal at I-70 and 18th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, until it closed in the 1990s. After R&Rs closing, he became the equipment repair specialist for Asphalt Sales, before he retired in 2010. Dave loved watching NASCAR Races, Fishing, and tinkering with and repairing all things mechanical. He could fix anything, and he enjoyed the feeling he got from a job well done.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved granny, Lorraine Abbott.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 21 years, Mary Ann Roy of Buffalo, Kansas; 3 children, Thomas Roy and Stephanie Holder, both of Buffalo, Kansas, as well as Jamie Theno and her husband Matt of Basehor, Kansas; 2 brothers, Marvin Roy and his wife Judy, and Lee Kratzer, all of Buffalo, Kansas; 5 grandkids; 3 great grandkids; and 1 niece, Bobbi Jo Roy.
