David Lee Delich, 83, Lenexa, Kansas passed away February 10, 2022. A visitation will be from 1-2 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm, Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66112. A graveside service will be immediately after in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
David was born on October 8, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to Michael Joseph Delich, Jr. and Jean (Barker) Delich. He attended Hawthorne Elementary, Northwest Junior, and was a 1956 graduate of Wyandotte High School. He then went on to attend KCK Junior College and earned his B.S.E. in 1960 and then his Master’s Degree in 1970 from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, KS. After 35 years of teaching at Coronado Junior and Washington High School, David retired in 1995.
David married his high school sweetheart, Sherry Delich in 2013. He was a member of Stony Point Christian Church. David was a world renowned collector and authority for WWII history. He helped write many books on the subject with displays of his collection.
David is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, J.C. Barker, Josephine Barker, Michael Joseph Dehlic, Sr. and Katherine Nostav.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; brother, Craig Delich; and cousins, Stephanie McBrayer, Susan Fay, Rick Schneider, Becky Moore, Philip Schneider and Sally Downard.
