She was born on January 24th, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas. The only daughter of John Merril (Mac) and Hazel McNeff. In 1971 she married Ernie Hutson who preceded her in death. They spent many hours fishing on the Missouri River. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry McNeff, an infant son, and special friend Robert Lathrop.
Deanna is survived by her younger brother Dan (Teresa) McNeff of Lenexa, KS; sister-in-law Mary McNeff of Georgia; son Wayne (Lynn) Lewis of Maysville, MO; daughters Sherry (Max) Evans of Kingston, MO, and Sally (Rex) Stretch of Cameron, MO. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 49 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deanna is preceded in death by her parents John Merril (Mac) and Hazel McNeff.
Deanna spent her life taking care of others, earning her LPN license in 1984.
Services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS on Wednesday August 12, 2026. Visitation will be at 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. The family requests no memorial contributions.
