

Delmar W. Hodges, 92, of Kansas City, Kansas, died Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on June 2, 1923 in Oskaloosa, Kansas to Frank B. and Inez Cook Hodges. Delmar attended Lawrence public schools and married Jean Bestwick on September 22, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a World War II veteran serving with the United States Merchant Marines. Delmar retired from the Kansas City, Kansas Water Pollution Deptartment. He was a member of Welborn Community Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons and the Board of Trustees.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Leona Wallace; four brothers, Harold, Walter, Harvey and Dale Hodges.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Jean of the home; son Robert and his wife Denise of Alta Loma, California; daughter, Cheryl Hodges-Thrutchley and her husband David of Leawood, Kansas; three grandchildren, Scott Stinson and his wife Emmagene Worley, Ryan Hodges and Aaron Hodges; three step-grandchildren, Leah Leeds and her husband Derek, Ben Thrutchley and Edwin Dreiling; and one great grandchild, Nora Elizabeth Leeds.
Visitation Services will be at Chapel Hill-Butler, 701 N. 94th St., KCK on Sun., June 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Mon., June 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
