

Prior that she worked as a stand up singer accompanied by her brother Bruce in Las Vegas during the1970s and was a member of several local Kansas City bands, Elm St. Grocery, Push, and Bushmeat.
Denise met her husband Bruce Roark in 1976 and worked with him in her last two bands, The Roark Brothers Band and Sky Creek. Bruce and Denise eventually married in 2001.
Denise had exceptional range, and always impressed on stage, singing everything from “Summertime” to “ Me and Bobby McGee” and even Patsy Cline’s greatest hits.
She loved the outdoors and as a child cherished her time at her parents’ cabin in the Ozarks, swimming and boating. Denise enjoyed needlepoint and crochet and was an excellent artist. She will be dearly missed.
Denise was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Johnny Schmidt. She is survived by her husband of fifteen years, Bruce Roark; her siblings, Patricia, Bruce, Glenda (Ed), and Morita (Pam); and her step-mother, Louise.
