Dennie Brown, 89, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away January 20, 2021 at the Parkway Care and Rehab in Edwardsville, Kansas. Dennie Lee Brown was born on April 1, 1931 to Iva and Francis Brown. The April Fool's Day birthday wishes were alway a fun time!! He was a life long resident in the Dotte area. As a young man, he joined what was once the Army Air Corp, later becoming the Air Force. His trade was mostly concrete and stonework throughout his life. He retired in 1996 from the KCK Public Works Department, after working there for 18 years.
His joy came from travels to visit Branson and family in Arizona. He loved air shows, driving his car, and keeping busy. There are many stories, where he helped others with rides to church, doctor appointments, errands, etc. Dennie loved Country and Gospel music. He even had a CD player at the nursing home, so he could share music with others. His best friend was Callye (his cat) who passed away a year ago. They had 8 wonderful years together! Dennie attended Victory Hills Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas and was a member of the Golden Agers Group at the church. His main concerns, this past year during Covid were, when he could go to church, when could he get a hair cut, when he could drive again. Of course, he had to have his phoned charged, so he could talk to friends and family.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Iva and Francis, and brothers, Carl, Harold, Willard, and Art Brown. Dennie was also preceded in death by his 4 sons, Richard Lee, Larry Eugene, Donald Craig, and Brian Keith Brown. Also preceding him in death was ex-wife Wanda Brown Kite, who was mother of his 6 boys. His wife of 20 yrs Pauline Turley Brown, passed away in 1988. She also had 6 children. She and Dennie helped raise his younger boys. His last marriage to Freida Plummer Brown, was for a short time due to her death.
Dennie has left behind a brother Dwight J. Brown along with sons, Dennis Brown (Patti) and Robert Brown (Chris). Other surviving relatives include, Donna Brown, daughter-in-law, and grand children Dennie Brown, Renee Brown, Donny Brown, Stacey Hooton, Bryan Estep, and many others who he was a grandpa to. There are also many extended family members, friends, and caregivers, who will miss him.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, the service on Saturday, January 30th will be private and there is not a visitation time. The family does apologize, that all are not invited to attend. We would appreciate you keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. He loved each of you.
