Derrick was born on March 4, 1985 in Paola, Kansas. He attended and graduated from Schlagle High School in Kansas City, Kansas. Some of Derrick’s favorite pastimes were sports cars, playing basketball, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, listening to his music, and going out to eat, especially for some chicken wings and Chili’s. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and playing video games online with them as well. Derrick was known for his funny personality and he could be quite a jokester and could always bring laughter to the room. He was a man that always did things “his way” and was just a “silk” man. One of Derrick’s proudest accomplishment was being a father to his beautiful daughter, Dominique. Derrick was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph McMorris; grandparents, Bertrine and Nona Waddleton; and aunt Harriet Cain.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Dominique McMorris; mother, Annie McMorris; brother, Derron McMorris; along with many other family members and dear friends.
