Born July 7th, 1937, in Lamar, Missouri to George Loren and Retha May (King) Rodina. Went to White Church Elementary and graduated from Washington High School. She worked at Hardcross Chemicals until retirement, then DECA Family Preservation Services for many years. Sold Avon from 1970 until her passing. Mind you she took over her mothers route, between them both, they collectively sold the same route for over 100 years.
She married Frank Pruitt June 15th, 1962, and together they lived in Kansas City, Kansas and raised five children.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father (Retha and George), her husband (Frank), brother (Curtis Keith), son (Rick Thaxton), daughter in law (Iris Thaxton), grandson (Curtis Anthony), and granddaughter (Rebecca Dawn). She is survived by her sons Raymond (Babette), Randy Thaxton, Ronnie (Chelsea) Pruitt, and only daughter Retha (Preston) Chalker. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren. Also several family relatives and church family members.
She was a member of London Heights Baptist Church since 1966. Then for a short while, after the church was sold, she attended Judson Baptist. Which we would like to give a special thanks to Susan Finley and Eric Goepfert for taking her to church when she could no longer drive. Also thank you to her special friend Ryan Finley for always helping her while at church. She loved her church, selling avon, humming birds, but above all else she loved Jesus and her family (biological and adopted).
Visitation will be held at London Heights Baptist Church, 734 N 78th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112, on October 30, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location at 12:00 pm.
Committal will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens at 1:30 pm, and a Reception will follow at London Heights Baptist Church, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
