Donald "Don" Earl Murphy

Donald (Don) Earl Murphy, age 85, passed away on January 12, 2016. He was born on April 12, 1930, in Tindall, Missouri to Roy Franklin (Pat) Murphy and Elva Lee Young. Don had three sisters, Betty Ruth Murphy (deceased), Marjorie Trump (deceased), and Marilyn Meek (deceased). Donald met his wife, Lenor Alice Griffey (deceased), in Princeton, Missouri and they married on December 2, 1950. Lenor and Don were married for 65 years. Donald was the loving and devoted father of three children, Delinda (deceased), Randall (Gainesville, Georgia), and Rick (Los Angeles, California). Donald served proudly in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his country, he went on to work at Bendix for 28 years. Donald always treasured his family and is survived by 5 grandchildren, Courtney Bernardo, Adam Murphy, Morgan Murphy, Addison Murphy, and Sydney Schachter as well as 5 great grandchildren, Javier Salas, Haley Bernardo, Madison Bernardo, Zane Gonzalez and KellyAnn Hutton. Donald was known for his quiet demeanor, creative mind and was always working on a project around the house. When he wasn’t busy around the house, chances were you would find him swinging on the porch swing, watching the birds and planning his next project. He was a kind neighbor, always willing to help out with plowing snow or lending an ear to listen. Donald will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be held at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112 on Sunday, January 17th at 11:00 am. Honorary Pallbearers will include Cameron Lang, Brennan Lang and Devin Lang.
