Donna Marie (Saragusa) Garvey

Donna Marie Garvey, 72, of Kansas City, Kansas was taken from us too soon on May 18, 2016. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, May 23rd at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. A Rosary will be prayed near the end of the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 24th at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 126th and Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas.

Donna was born April 25, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri to John and Frances Saragusa. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School and married the love of her life, James “Jim” Garvey on December 28, 1963. Donna worked for 32 years for Control Systems, International and loved working as a beautician in her spare time. She was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church. Donna could often be found trying new recipes from the cooking channel, though she was known for her basta that she always made on Sundays. She loved spending time with her family and finding special gifts for them on QVC. Donna was a true Elvis fan and enjoyed collecting memorabilia and listening to his music. She also enjoyed ceramics and knitting and getting lost on trips with her cousin. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances (Wills) Saragusa.

She is survived by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Garvey; her children, Nici Updike and her husband Shawn, and Jimmy Garvey and his wife Leann; her grandchildren, Adde and Colton Hinkle and Emily and Olivia Garvey; her sister, Pam Mooneyhan and her husband Bob; Aunt Rosie and Jerry Martincich and his wife Kim.
