On February 10, 2022, Donna Dee Theno, passed peacefully in the early morning light at the age of 81. Donna was born the second youngest of eleven children near Mountain Grove, Missouri. At age two, she was adopted by Gertie and Russell McCutcheon and spent her childhood in Kansas City, Kansas. Her Grandma Noel lived with them during that time and had a huge influence on her childhood as witnessed by the many loving stories mom relayed up until her death.
Donna married young and gave birth to her three children by the age of 23. During that time, she started a business and opened her own Hair Salon. She also enjoyed sewing and canning vegetables from our very large garden. Donna would later divorce as an early survivor of domestic abuse.
Donna would remarry in her early 30s and enjoyed a new found family life. This included spending family time on Friday nights at the raceway and family vacations in California. She was also expanding her career and would go on to hold multiple positions as an Administrative Assistant and later an Executive Assistant that would span law firms, insurance companies, and supply chain distribution. Donna was a working mom in a time when that was not popular and paved the way for many others.
Donna loved having fun with her children and grandchildren. This included hanging out at the Lake of the Ozarks, shopping at Indian Springs, attending Rolling Stones concerts, shooting fireworks, playing cards, playing Monopoly, playing Risk, and cheering on the Chiefs. Donna also loved her dogs; Moosie, Pugsie, and Toby. They were her loyal companions and always by her side in time of great need.
Donna was an amazing, strong, beautiful woman. She loved family, paved her own path, and faced adversity with grace.
Donna is survived by children, Rick Theno and Glenda White; daughter-in-law Deborah Theno, grandchildren, Jacob White and Haley Alegria; and sister, Shirley Munn. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Theno, her son, Randy Blair, her sister, Noel Blair, and her brother, Robert Cash.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens located at 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, at 2:00 o’clock.
