

Dorothy L. Arnold, 90, of Kansas City, KS, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Greenwood Terrace in Lenexa, KS. Services will be at 2 P.M. Saturday, March 4th at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Interment will follow Chapel Hill Masonic Garden. Visitation 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, at the funeral home. The family requests that any contributions be made to Crossroads Hospice of Lenexa, KS.
Dorothy was born October 24, 1926 in Kansas City, MO to Orin and Geneva (Grover) Gilpin, where she lived before moving to Nebraska. She moved to Kansas City, KS and met the love of her life, Carroll Arnold, whom she married on August 26, 1947 and they moved to Nashua, Missouri, later returning to live in KCK to build their home and live for more than 60 years.
Dorothy worked a few jobs before going to work for the Kansas City, KS School District for more than 30 years, retiring in 2007.
Dorothy was an excellent cake decorator, which was a talent she loved to share with family and friends. She baked and decorated many wedding and Birthday cakes, and was always in demand.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; a son Carroll Lee Arnold, Jr. in 1992; her parents; 2 brothers, Jerry Gilpin and Bill Gilpin; and her sister Beatrice.
She is survived by her son Robert A. Arnold (Jo Ann); 6 grandchildren, Jason, Greg, Rob, Nicole, Amy, and J.C.; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; her sisters in law, Irene Gilpin and Pat Gilpin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
