

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Francis Hurla, birth mother, Oma Wilson Cunningham, father, Marvin E. Cunningham and step-mother, Anna L. Cunningham.
She attended Welborn Elementary, Christ the King School and graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1946. She was a parishioner at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church for sixty-five years.
She married the love of her life, George Francis Hurla on November 25, 1947. They were married for forty-six years and had six children.
She was chiefly a homemaker, but held several jobs in the community including Dub’s Dread Golf Course, Kansas City, Kansas Community College, USD 500 and Wall Truck Line.
Survivors include brother, Marvin E. Cunningham (Carol) of Kansas City, Kansas, two sisters-in-law and lifelong friends, Cleo Hurla, Tonganoxie, KS and Margie Fricke, Prescott, AZ. Children, Dennis S. Hurla, Edwardsville, KS, Christopher F. Hurla, Olathe, KS, Doris J. Hurla, Lee’s Summit, MO, Joan R. Widener (John) Wichita, KS, Lawrence G. Hurla, Kansas City, KS and Mary C. Spangler (Doug), Edwardsville, KS.
Grandchildren include: Tracy Stricko, Carrie Dean, Christen Spencer, Anthony and Andrew Hurla, Josie Milligan, Beth Miranda, and Mitchell Widener, Mary Cate and Lewis George Spangler.
Great-grandchildren include: Bailey, Brady Quinn and Hayes Dean, Draven, Donovan and Maddie Spencer, Natalie and Brooklyn Milligan and Anthony Le. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend. She was a voracious reader and loved her home nestled the natural beauty of Wyandotte County Lake. She was the founder of the Hurla Family Reunions and will truly be missed at these annual picnics. She was a scorekeeper for many little league ball games and who could forget her famous rally yell? She will also be missed at the famous Cunningham-Hurla birthday and Christmas parties.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 9th from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Butler-Meyers Funeral Home, 6300 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10th at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 94th & State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens located at 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas.
