

Dorothy Stine, 96, of KCK, passed away Monday, August 18th at home. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m., Friday, August 22nd at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas; with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be sent to Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home in Dorothy's name.
Dorothy was born February 21, 1918, in Ottawa, Kansas, to John and Esther Compton. She graduated from Ottawa High School and married the love of her life, William Stine in September of 1936. Dorothy worked as a meatwrapper in the 1950s and then was in real estate and property management from the 1960s all the way until the late 2000s. She was a charter member of the Ottawa VFW Auxiliary and a longtime member of White Church Baptist Church, where she played the organ and prepared all the church meals. Dorothy loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Esther Compton; her husband of 63 years, William Stine; her brothers, Robert and John Compton; her son, Jerry Stine; her grandsons, David Stine and Rick Gillem.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Don Stine and his wife Pat and Dick Stine and his wife Kathy; her sister, Norma Galloway; her two sisters-in-law, Madge Compton and Betty Compton; twelve grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
