Duane Wesley Hearrold, 85, passed away on May 11, 2023, at Joni Fair Hospice House, in Pueblo, Colorado, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 14, 1937, in Harden, Missouri, to Wesley Robert Hearrold and Bernice Lucille Chrisman.
Duane was a devoted husband to his wife, Del Rose, with whom he shared 36 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father to his children, Jean Ann (Larry) Bremer, Steven Duane Hearrold, Melinda “Mindi” (Rusty) Hearrold-Evans, Brent (Sharon) Lawson, Stephen Lawson, Shari (Mark) McCuistion and David (Lana) Lawson. He was adored by numerous nieces and nephews as well as being a doting grandfather to his 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Duane served his country proudly in the US Army before beginning his career as a firefighter with the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department, where he served for 25 years. He was known for his bravery and dedication to serving his community. In addition to his career as a firefighter, Duane owned a home improvement company, and he had a passion for carpentry. He was a skilled craftsman and took great pride in his work.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Bernice, his brothers Charles and Jack, his sister Barbara, two infant sons and two infant granddaughters. He is survived by his wife, DelRose, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and his sister-in-law Edith Hearrold.
Duane will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering love for his family, and his dedication to serving his community. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service for Duane will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Hope Chapel, 2205 N. 102nd St., Kansas City, KS 66109. A gathering for family and friends will begin at 10:30 AM, also at Hope Chapel. A graveside service will be immediately following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112.
